Equally at home on Acoustic or Electric Bass, Joe Higgins has been performing professionally for over 20 years in a variety of musical settings. In the New England area Mr. Higgins has performed with a wide variety of ensembles from the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and the Boston Ballet Orchestra to the Artie Shaw Orchestra, the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra and the World Music group Natraj. Mr. Higgins has worked in the pit orchestras of many theaters including the Wang and Schubert Theaters in Boston, the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, the Providence (RI) Performing Arts Center and the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, MA. In the Studio Mr. Higgins has recorded with Emmanuel Music of Boston, the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, the Bangor Symphony and as a sideman on numerous other recording projects. Mr. Higgins Chamber Music credits include performances with members of the San Francisco, Utah, Kansas City and Portland Symphonies at the New Hampshire Music Festival Chamber Music Series, and performances with the Winsor Music, Emmanuel Music, and Apple Hill Chamber Music series.

Currently Joe is a member of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra the Orchestra of Indian Hill and is Principal Double Bass of the New Hampshire Music Festival. Some of his other orchestral performances have included the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, the Pro-Arte Chamber Orchestra, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the Cantata Singers Orchestra. Mr. Higgins has performed at festivals in the U.S. and Europe including the 1997 Festival de Saint-Denis in Paris and Frankfurt, Spoleto USA, and A.I.M.S. in Austria.
